Both Mrs. Van Horn and Mr. McFarland use video in their high school Communication Arts classes as well as several elementary teachers. Parents Speak about Careers

April 11, 2012

During the month of March the kindergarten through 3rd Grade had parent volunteers come to school and educate the students on their careers. Jeff Wimmer, father of Kalin Wimmer, demonstrates how to use a neck brace in the event of an emergency. Jeff works for the ambulance crew of Montgomery County. He spoke to the 2nd grade class about his profession working on the ambulance vehicle.

Math Club celebrates Pi Day

March 20, 2012

The Math Club passed out Pi pencils and had a "Pi" eating contest on March 14th (3.14) to raise awareness of the number Pi and the Math Club. The winner of the contest was Mrs. Murdock. Click here for pictures!

Helping Joplin Students

March 13, 2012

The Fifth grade and our local Rotary teamed up to send books to students in the tornado hit Joplin school district. Their teacher said, "You would have thought it was Christmas!" Thanks to everyone who participated!

HS Choir records clip for KOMU

Drug Awareness and Bully Prevention Week

In the Elementary, we have been celebrating “Drug Awareness and Bully Prevention Week” for the week of October 24-28th. All the classes this week have been focusing on strategies on how to prevent bullying as well as the dangers of drugs.

Kindergarten through 6th Grade participated in Dress Up Days:

Monday: Sock it to Drugs. Wear Crazy Socks
Tuesday: Put drugs to sleep. Wear pajamas
Wednesday: Put a Cap on bullying! Wear a hat
Thursday: W-M R-1 is a safe place to be. Dare to be yourself and dress in mismatched or crazy clothes
Friday: Bullying Stinks! Wear Pink

Music Program Creates Video for Grant

Fox22 is sponsoring a grant for fine arts programs in Mid-Missouri High Schools. In order to apply, you had to make a video. Well, our band and choir both made a videos and submitted them to Fox22. Welcome to Wellsville-Middletown

Welcome to another year at Wellsville-Middletown. This year we welcome Mr. Tom Wales as our new Superintendent. Other additions include Mr. Bruce Powers as Social Studies and Athletic Director, Ms Elizabeth Ward as Business, Mr. Jonathan Deering as Social Studies and Aide, Ms Jamie Boyd as 5th Grade, and Ms Shayla Cox as Elementary PE.

Awards Given at "Back to School" Dinner

Mr. Wales recognized all of the teachers for their years of service in teaching and to the district. Several 5, 10, 20 and 25 year awards were given. The "Tiger Award" was presented to Mrs. Cindy Shramek and the 'Positive Educator Award" was presented to Mrs. Kitty Hallock.
