Congratulations to the student body for winning the
Battle of the Belt challenge sponsored by MODOT. We had the highest increase of seat belt
wearers and they will be here on Thursday, February 23, to present a check for
$500. Great job everyone. Keep wearing your seatbelts!!!
Crush on You Fundraiser: FBLA will be selling Crush sodas during lunch
this week (February 6-10). Sodas are a dollar each, and will be delivered on
Valentine’s Day.
Any junior high students remotely interested in
track will need to meet in Mr. Slovensky’s room
during tiger time on the following days:

All outfits must be school appropriate!!! Participation will be counted and used to
help determine what class will be the first winner of the Spirit Paw. And, the
“best dressed” of each grade for each day will win a prize!
Dance tickets will be on sale during lunch from
Monday, Feb 6-10. Tickets are $2.
William Woods University is holding an education
workshop for high school students interested in pursuing a degree in athletic
training. The one-day workshop will be held Saturday, March 3, 2012.
Registration forms are available in Mr. Blaue’s
office and must be sent before March 1st
The
University of Missouri School of Medicine will again
offer a unique summer experience for high school students interested in careers
in medicine. The 14th annual High School Mini Medical School is
a one-week experience in June designed to give students a preview of medical
school. The program is intended for students who will begin their senior year
in the fall of 2012 and who want to explore the career of a physician. See
Mr. Blaue for more information.
(High School) Missouri State University is again sponsoring the Missouri innovation Academy. This summer academy for 10th and 11th grade students is designed to encourage and excite Missouri students to further explored and pursue postsecondary education degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) topics. Also students are exposed to the world of business and entrepreneurship. This year’s academy will be held from June 10th through June 30th. Applications must be postmarked by February 15th. See Mr. Blaue for more information.
Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph,
Missouri will have a representative in our district on February 16, 2012. See
Mr. Blaue to schedule an appointment.
University of Missouri St. Louis will have a
representative in our district on March 6, 2012. See Mr. Blaue to schedule an
appointment.
Southeast Missouri State University will have a
representative in our district on March 12, 2012. See Mr. Blaue to schedule an
appointment.
(High School) Seniors: Merrell University of Beauty
Arts and Science, of Jefferson City and Moberly, is offering the Annual
Cosmetology Scholarship to an outstanding graduating senior. See Mr. Blaue for
more information and an application. The scholarship deadline is April 15,
2012.
2012 Cadet Patrol Academy: The American Legion is sponsoring the 2012 Cadet Patrol Academy.
Any high school students with the following qualifications may apply. He
or she must be 16 to 18 years old, have a 2.0 GPA or higher, possess a valid
driver’s license, and have an interest in pursuing a career in the Criminal
Justice System. Applications are available in Mr. Blaue’s
office. Applications must be completed and mailed before February 15, 2012.
(HIGH SCHOOL) Missouri Girls State: The
American Legion Auxiliary will hold the 2012 session of Missouri Girls State at
University of Central Missouri. Girls State allows students an opportunity to
live together as self-governing citizens by informing them about the duties,
privileges, rights and responsibilities of American citizenship. If you are
interested in the governing process this may be a great opportunity to have
hands-on experience in how state government works. For more information and
applications see Mr. Blaue. Applications must be completed and mailed
before March 15, 2012.
(HIGH SCHOOL) Boys State of Missouri: The
American Legion will hold the 73rd session of The Boys State of
Missouri on the campus of the University of Central Missouri. This is a highly
interactive educational program that teaches young men the duties, privileges,
responsibilities, and rights of American citizenship. During the program
participants organize their own city, county, and state governments. This is a
great hands-on experience in how government works. For more information and
applications see Mr. Blaue. Applications must be completed and mailed
before March 1, 2012.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: All lunch money needs to be placed in the money box
before school in the cafeteria or prior to the beginning of 2nd hour
at the high school office. If your lunch balance is below five dollars
(-$5.00) after the start 2nd hour you will not be allowed to charge
anything for lunch. Peanut butter sandwiches will be offered. If you
are buying extras at lunch, please tell the lunch cashier that you have an
extra milk, sandwich, etc. before you enter your lunch number.
